Rachel:  Hi Hi! I believe some introductions are in order. For those of you who don’t know me or have just met me and want to know more about me, my name is Rachel, and ever since I was little I have dreamed of traveling to far off places and used to plan out different routes to travel the world.

I hail from southern Ontario, Canada where I studied and worked in broadcast television. It was here that I met Steve; you’ll be getting to know him in this blog as well. You will likely notice that he is funnier and wittier than I, where I provide much more of a dry, sarcastic humour of things. (I also have a tendency to muddle up sayings and words for things, it becomes a bit of a comedy itself) but I digress. So, I met Steve back in Ontario and we seem to enjoy each other’s company and such. In 2014 we left the center of the universe (Toronto) to move west and now call Calgary, Alberta home. Here we continued our careers in broadcast technology except now we live in close proximity to the Rocky Mountains where we enjoy spending much of our off time together. Hopefully this will be the first of many adventures for us together.

Steve:  These sections are usually written in the third person, as if a previously unannounced narrator suddenly swooped in to extol the virtues of Steve….I refuse to do that.  I’d prefer this section to be somewhat uncomfortable, much like the way they make everyone in the circle stand up and introduce themselves at one of those 12 step therapy sessions.  But if it makes it easier, you can imagine this section being read in the buttery smooth voice of James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman or the incredibly irritating Gilbert Gottfried.

I consider myself a Maritimer, born and raised on the East Coast of Canada.  And like most Maritimers I eventually grew tired of the fog and saltwater and longed for the gold and riches of Upper Canada. So I packed up my carpet bag and headed for the big city of Toronto where I spent 10 miserable years pursuing my vocation of broadcast technology and engineering.  In 2013 I completed a solo bicycle ride across Canada and upon my return, decided I’d finally had enough of Ontario. So once again I packed up my socks and the silverware drawer and struck out for the wonders of the western provinces.  I currently hang my hat in Calgary, Alberta on the eastern front of the Rocky Mountains and have never been happier.
